28th Annual Rell Sunn Surf Benefit
In its 28th year, the Montauk Rell Sunn Surf Contest pays homage to the extraordinary legacy of the Hawaiian-born world champion and trailblazer in the sport of women’s surfing. Sunn’s passion for the sport led her to spearhead the formation of the Women’s Professional Surfing Association and women’s pro surfing tour.
From the mid-1960s to the early 80s, Sunn not only dominated the surfing scene as one of top competitors but also became a beacon of herself empowerment for women worldwide, both in and out of the water. For the last 28 years, the East End Community has come together in her memory to raise funds for local families in need. Looking forward to seeing you at this year’s event on July 11, 2026 to help us continue this legacy.
A Party with a Purpose
Join us at Navy Beach on June 6 from 3–5 PM for the Shred the Love Summer Kickoff Party: an afternoon of community, connection, and giving back. Guests will enjoy drinksr, eats, and live music by Telly Karoussos while gathering with friends and neighbors to celebrate the start of the summer season.
This special event is an opportunity not only to raise funds for Montauk families and community members facing hardship, but also to raise awareness of Shred the Love's programs and the support we provide throughout the year. Hosted by the nonprofit behind the Rell Sunn Surf Benefit, our mission is rooted in neighbors helping neighbors, ensuring that local residents have a community they can rely on when challenges arise.
Come kick off summer with us, learn more about our work, and help strengthen the spirit of giving that makes Montauk such a special place. All proceeds benefit Shred the Love, and tickets are limited. It takes a village.
